Implementation Actions
Mapping across the entire territory of the value chains and the land resources of significant and dynamic agri-food chains in order to assess their viability in the face of upcoming changes.
The project’s action areas include:
– Recording the current situation and developing a strategic plan for sustainable and resilient food production
– Developing digital tools to promote emblematic products
– Creating infrastructure for the improvement of existing products and the development of new ones
– Establishing a network to promote and strengthen synergies between research institutions and businesses, with the aim of providing research and analytical services.
The project methodology consists of four (4) Work Packages (WPs):
WP1: Development of a Strategy for the Agri-food Sector
The objective of WP1 is the study and mapping of the sector, analysis of the internal and external environment, the definition of the strategy, its goal-setting, and the development of an Action Plan. At the same time, it involves identifying institutional challenges and issues that hinder the sector’s growth and initiating solutions in collaboration with the competent authorities.
WP2: Pilot Projects of an Innovative Nature
WP2 will focus on knowledge generation regarding the main categories of Greek foods, organizing this knowledge into databases, and developing digital tools to promote it to stakeholders along the value chain – from field to shelf and consumer – as a means of adding value to products.
WP3: Development and Maintenance of Infrastructure and Facilities
The goal of WP3 is the development and maintenance of infrastructure and facilities, such as:
a) Creation of a National Microbial Biobank of Agri-food and Industrial Interest
b) Pilot units for the development of new agri-food products and the improvement of existing ones (e.g., cheese-making, micro-winemaking, production of oils and extracts)
WP4: Access to High-Tech Analytical Services
The objective of WP4 is to:
a) Enhance laboratories providing high-tech specialized and value-added services
b) Create a regional network of laboratories offering R&D services through research contracts.
